Viewfield Rovers 2 -2 Dalziel FP

Dalziel travelled to Lochwinnoch on Saturday and came away with a point against a team battling relegation. Although Rovers are currently at the foot of the table they are always difficult to beat on their home ground. Mark Jamieson opened the scoring midway through the first half taking advantage of a mistake by the home keeper to slot home at the back post. Viewfield equalised early in the second half following some hesitation in the Dalziel defence. The visiting side restored their lead with a well struck Graham Donaldson penalty after the ball struck a home player on the arm. The equaliser came about in controversial fashion, the referee adjudged that the ball crossed the line before the Dalziel keeper had caught the ball. Dalziel had a good penalty claim denied in the last minute when the home keeper clattered Mark Jamieson, but the referee refused the claim.

Dalziel have progressed into the semi final stage of the league cup following a  1- 0 victory over Newton Mearns Rovers Darren Ferguson heading home the winning goal. Dalziel are away to Glasgow Harp in the first leg of the semi this Wednesday, with the return likely to be the following Wednesday at Dalziel Park.

Unfortunately Dalziel did not fare as well in the Challenge Cup losing 1 - 0 at home to Doune Castle after extra time, this was particularly disappointing because this followed an excellent  2- 0 victory away to Glasgow Harp in the earlier round, goals from David Jackson and Graham Donaldson.

The club would like to congratulate Paul Crumley and Darren Ferguson who are the latest Dalziel players to be selected for the Scottish Amateur select. Both played against a Scottish Universities select and Paul also played against a select team in the Republic of Ireland.
