Scottish Amateur Cup Round 5
Dalziel FP (CAL) 2 - 0 Riverside Athletic

Two second half goals gave Dalziel a place in the sixth round of the cup against opponents who sit top of their league in the Dundee area.

The first half was pretty even, Dalziel possibly had more possession, but could not penetrate the visiting defence. The best chance of the half fell, however to the Dundee side when a slip let their forward a free run in on goal, but Dalziel keeper Andy Sweeney made a great save to thwart the threat.

The home side took the lead five minutes into the second half when a clumsy challenge on the edge of the box gave Graham Donaldson the chance to confidently fire home a penalty. Dalziel continued to dominate, but did not extend their advantage until 15 minutes from full time when a great move started by Sweeney allowed Paul Crumley to play Graham Donaldson in behind the defence, and his cut back was clinically finished by David Jackson.

Riverside tried to the end and their long throw tactic caused a few moments of panic in the home defence. Dalziel are away to Redbrae of Dunfermline City in Round 6.

Dalziel face last years league champions Dumbarton Acad at Dalziel Park this Saturday.

The Club's annual Gordon Forsyth Memorial Dinner will take place at Colville Park Country Club on Thursday 22 February.  Speakers are John Gahagan, and Bill Copeland details and tickets from any club member.
