Robin Austin Memorial Dinner

At the recent Dalziel Rugby Club Dinner in memory of popular and hardworking Club Member, Robin Austin, who died tragically in a plane crash in Germany in 1968, Guest Speaker Scott Glyn, President of Ross High RFC entertained the Players, Officials and their Guests.

In an excellent night enjoyed by Players and Guests alike, the Austin Memorial Trophy was awarded to Ian Ross, a hardworking and longstanding servant of the Club. This Dinner, which is mainly for Dalziel Players, saw visiting New Zealand loose forward, Paul Beer, being awarded the Player of the Year following a fantastic first season at Dalziel. The under-21 Player of the Year Award was given to Craig Simmons, one of the brace of Scotland under-18 Internationalists and a top performer in last seasons 1st-Fifteen. The Top Try Scorer was awarded to Victor Czarnocki with the Top Points Award going to Robert Simpson, 1st-Fifteen stand-off.

The Dinner was ably chaired by Vice-President, Gordon Turnbull.
